It is normal for a person to have moles on their body as practically everyone has dozens of moles on their body. Most of these moles are non-malignant and pose no immediate threat or danger. It is the moles that you have had for a long time or those which suddenly appear that are referred to as skin cancer moles. Existing moles that suddenly change specific characteristics may become skin cancer moles.

The two most common kinds of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. (Carcinoma is cancer that begins in the cells that cover or line an organ.) Basal cell carcinoma accounts for more than 90 percent of all skin cancers in the United States. It is a slow-growing cancer that seldom spreads to other parts of the body.

What is the Best Treatment For Skin Cancer?

The treatment for skin cancer will depend on the type of cancer you have and the severity of the problem.

Basal cell cancer is usually found on the face only and is very treatable. Squamous cell cancer is found on those areas that are frequently exposed to the sun. It is very curable but only if caught before it has spread to other organs.
