Skin Cancer Biopsy
On February 21, 2012, I had to go to the dermatologist again. Four weeks prior do this date, I somehow had nicked my finger and had an area that did not heal up.
Since it was on a finger next to where I previously had a large squamous cell carcinoma removed in 2009, I was concerned that I had another potential skin cancer. After the doctor examined it, she said she was not sure what it was. She also said that since it had not healed on its own in almost 4 weeks, that a biopsy needed to be done to find out exactly what it was.

Skin Cancer
What are the Causes and Effects of Skin Cancer?
Like all types of cancer, skin cancer is caused when the cells are exposed to some external environmental condition.
This causes the cells or more specifically the genes in the cell to mutate and reproduce in an out of control manner. In many cases of cancer it is not always clear what the actual environmental condition or conditions were that caused the cancer.
It may not be just one condition that promotes the cancer growth and this makes it harder to prevent the development of the disease.
