Are There Issues That Pertain To Employee Health?
Employee Health Issues
In warmer climates, companies must take make sure that the air conditioning in the building is working properly and that the building is kept clean, so pollen from the outside is kept to a minimum and does not trigger allergies.
By taking care of the employees, companies are starting to realize the importance that healthy employees are more productive and are less likely to leave and go work for a competitor.
The following list are some of the health issues that employers are taking into consideration to keep their employees healthy and productive:
1. Carpel tunnel is caused by people who work at a computer the majority of the day. It affects the fingers and hands from being in the same position. To minimize the risk, some employers have invested in hand rests and chairs that can be adjusted.
2. Allergies and sinus headaches are a big problem. Sinus headaches can be caused when you look at a computer screen eight hours a day. Allergies can be caused by dust and pollen. Both sinus headaches and allergy problems can cause people to miss work. The money spent to keep employees healthy is much less than the lost productivity and sick pay.
3. Smoking in and around corporate buildings. Many states have banned smoking in buildings. Some companies do not hire anyone who smokes.
Employers are also using company newsletters and websites that encourage good employee health. These measures seem to be helping increase employee productivity and overall happiness with the company. This is very highly valued nowadays.
